Ant Colony Idle

Three ants. One queen. Build the colony that outlives you.

How to play

Start by tapping Forage — the first food is yours to find by hand. Once you've got enough, assign ants to the three castes: foragers bring in food, excavators dig, and nurses speed up the queen's eggs. Spend food and dig on chambers — Tunnels for room, the Nursery and Storeroom for growth, the Fungus Garden for passive food — plus refinements and upgrades that make every ant more productive. Your colony keeps growing while you're away, up to 8 hours, so there's always progress waiting when you come back.

Once the Royal Chamber is dug, your queen can take a Nuptial Flight: the colony resets, but she earns Royal Jelly — a permanent boost — and can found the next colony in a richer biome. Each flight makes the climb back faster than the one before it.

The castes

Real ant colonies divide labor by caste, and this one does too. Foragers leave the nest and bring back food. Nurses tend the brood, keeping eggs warm and hatching faster. Excavators dig — widening tunnels and carving out new chambers underground. Assign ants between the three as your colony's needs shift; an idle ant produces nothing, so keeping everyone working is most of the game.

Progression

Chambers and upgrades compound: a bigger Storeroom means more food per trip, a leveled Nursery means faster eggs, and refinements push every caste's base output higher. Royal Jelly, earned from Nuptial Flights, is the one resource that survives a reset — spend it on permanent boosts that make each new colony stronger than the last. Later flights can settle new biomes, from meadow to woodland to dune, each with its own multiplier and upgrade row. Honest tradeoff: a flight resets your food, ants, chambers, and upgrades — only Royal Jelly, milestones, biome, and settings carry over.

Why play

Ant Colony Idle is a relaxing management game with real myrmecology flavor — actual ant biology, not cartoon antics. No signup, no cookies: your colony saves right in your browser, and you can export it as text to carry between devices. It's a free idle ant game built to be played in short check-ins or long sessions alike, and the economy is tuned so you never need to watch an ad to keep up.

FAQ

Does the colony grow while I'm away?
Yes. Ants keep foraging and eggs keep hatching for up to 8 hours after you leave (12 with a late upgrade). Come back and collect what they gathered.
What is the Nuptial Flight?
It's this game's prestige: your queen flies off to found a new colony. Food, chambers, and upgrades reset, but you earn Royal Jelly — a permanent production boost — and can settle richer biomes. The second colony grows much faster than the first.
Where is my save?
In your browser, on your device. No account, no cloud. You can export your colony as text from Settings and import it anywhere — do that before clearing browser data.
Is it free? Are there ads?
Free, no signup. On some game portals you can watch an optional rewarded ad to boost production or double away earnings — always your choice, never required, and the game is balanced so you never need one.
I lost my progress — can I get it back?
The game keeps an automatic backup and restores it if your save is damaged. If you exported your colony, paste it into Settings → Import. Otherwise we can't recover it — there's no server copy, which is also why we ask for nothing from you.
Do the castes match real ants?
Broadly, yes — real colonies have foragers, brood-tending nurses, and excavating workers, and new colonies really do start with a nuptial flight. We take some liberties; real queens don't collect Royal Jelly air-miles.
