Every number on the board counts the mines touching it — up to eight neighboring cells. Open a cell to see its number, or a blank if none of its neighbors hide a mine at all; blanks clear themselves and their neighbors automatically, which is how one click can open a whole corner of the board. Flag a cell you're sure hides a mine so you can't open it by accident, and watch the counter to track how many are left. Your first click is always safe — it never hits a mine, and it always opens a starting area big enough to reason from. Once a revealed number already has the right count of flags around it, click it directly to chord: every other neighbor opens at once. It's the fastest way to clear a board, and the fastest way to lose one if a flag was wrong.
Beginner is a 9×9 board with 10 mines — the place to learn what the numbers mean and take your first chord. Intermediate steps up to 16×16 and 40 mines, big enough that you'll need real flag discipline and pattern recognition to move fast. Expert is the full-size board: 30×16 with 99 mines, where efficient chording and endgame counting decide your time. Start with Beginner if the numbers are new to you, or head straight to Expert if you already know the patterns.
A 50/50 is the moment a board stops being logic and starts being a coin flip — two cells, one mine, nothing left to read that tells them apart. Classic random boards can hand you one of these behind a wall or in an unreachable corner, and there's nothing you could have done differently. Every board here is different: before you ever see it, our generator verifies it's solvable step by step, from the first click to the last cell, using nothing but the numbers already on the board.
